Adani Enterprises, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, announced on Wednesday that it will allocate ₹50,000 crore for the establishment of hyperscale data centers in Maharashtra over the next decade. The company revealed this information during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Present at the event were Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani.
The planned data centers will be constructed in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai and Pune, and they will be powered by renewable energy sources. Adani Enterprises stated that this initiative will not only enhance the green energy infrastructure but also create job opportunities for approximately 20,000 individuals in Maharashtra.
In addition to the data center infrastructure, Adani Group also expressed its intention to invest in distribution systems to provide power for the 1 GW hyperscale data centers.
Mumbai has made significant strides in adopting clean energy and has become a global leader in this field. Its share of renewable energy now surpasses that of many major cities around the world. Adani Enterprises highlighted that mega projects like these have played a crucial role in Mumbai’s renewable energy journey, aligning with the city’s broader sustainability goals and contributing to India’s overall renewable energy targets.
