1. Armenia seeks Indian expertise, Su-30 Weapons and Training
Armenia has planned to diversify it’s resources to build its airforce and has sought Indian assistance in training its pilots and equipping its Su-30 fighter jets with Indian made Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground weapons, which could include 110 kilometres range Astra Mk-I air-to-air missiles, glide bombs, smart anti-airfield weapon and Brahmos air-launched cruise missile.
2. IAF Tejas to get powerful Uttam Mark 2 Radar
The DRDO showcased Uttam Mark-II radar at the Indian Defence Expo 2022 that had 912 transmit receive modules which is more than 780 transmit receive modules of the base line new term radar.
There are indications that the Tejas Mark-IA fighter jets will get the powerful Uttam Mark-II radar.
3. After Philippines Marines, Philippines Navy eyes Brahmos
The Philippines navy has expressed interest in acquiring Brahmos missiles for it’s front-line warships, but as it will take time and require structural modifications on the ships a Philippine military backed think tank has said that it should equip Brahmos batteries on some of the non-combatant ships like auxiliary support ships and cargo ships that will provide interim solution until the Brahmos missiles are equipped on the front-line warships
4. Indian Army to procure 300 Logistics RTV’s
Indian Army has released a request for proposal to procure 300 4by4 logistics rough terrain vehicles.
The RTV’s must be highly mobile and configurable for deployment in medium to high altitude areas at 1600 feet. It should have a curb weight of less than 1 ton, speed not less than 40 km/hr and operating range not less than 100 Kilometres. It must be powered by 30 horsepower engine with an inbuilt cold engine and start system. It should be portable by Chinook and Mi-26 helicopters and should also be para-droppable.
5. India to offer indigenous weapons to Japan
To capitalise on Japan’s recent decision to increase it’s defence budget, the Indian Army has asked Indian vendors to handover their defence equipments, so that they can be displayed in Japan to promote Indian defence industry at the upcoming bilateral army exercise from 13th February.
Some of the equipments sought by the army includes drones, portable counter drone systems, robots for room intervention operations, rifles, body armour and communication equipment.
6. 28 BRO infrastructure projects worth 724 crores inaugurated
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated 28 infrastructure projects to the nation worth 724 crore Rupees that includes 22 bridges and 6 road projects. It includes Siyom bridge in Arunachal Pradesh, which will give and advantage to Indian military in deploying troops to the far-flung areas of the Line of Actual Control(LAC).
