Sultanpur: The Indian Air Force fighter jets and transport aircraft performed emergency exercises on the Purvanchal expressway airstrip today.
According to statements made to the news agency ANI by District Magistrate Sultanpur Jasjeet Kaur, approximately 10 jets and aircraft executed a touch-and-go exercise on the airstrip, with one AN-32 (Transport aircraft) successfully completing a full landing.
The District Magistrate explained that this emergency exercise was conducted by the Indian Air Force to assess the quality and durability of the airstrip, ensuring that emergency aircraft could effortlessly land and take off from the runway.
The Mirage fighter jet, Jaguar jet, and Antonov AN-32 were mentioned as participants in the exercise.
“Today’s IAF emergency exercise took place in the presence of senior IAF officials and ground staff. The Mirage fighter jet, Jaguar jet, and Antonov AN-32 were all part of today’s exercise,” stated Jasjeet Kaur.
She also mentioned that the Sukhoi was scheduled to participate in the exercise but was unable to attend due to adverse weather conditions in Bareilly, where it was stationed.
In preparation for today’s event, a 5-kilometer stretch of the Purvanchal expressway near Sultanpur had undergone repairs since June 11. All dividers in the vicinity of the airstrip were removed to ensure the safe and secure landing and takeoff of aircraft.
