The Defence Ministry of India has signed two separate contracts with Bharat Electronics Limited worth 3700 crore rupees. The first contract is worth over 2,800 crore rupees for the supply of Arudhra 4D multifunction phased array medium power Radars(Arudhra MPR) for the Indian Air Force while the second contract is worth 950 crore rupees for the supply of 129 Dhruti DR118 radar warning receivers(Dhruti RWR) for Su-30 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force.
Arudhra 4D multifunction phased array medium power radar is capable of automatic detection and tracking of aerial targets ranging from fighter aircrafts to slow moving targets. The system has an instrumented range of 400 Km and is able to detect 2sqm RCS targets as far as 300 Km in range with the altitude coverage from 100 meters to 30 Kms. -(drdo.gov.in)
The Dhruti DR118 radar warning receivers will warn the Su-30 pilots of potential hostile airborne and ground-based radar activity from over 200 kilometres and will considerably enhance the electronic warfare capabilities of the Su-30 aircrafts.
