The Indian Army will be raising it’s second Dhanush regiment by March 2023 which will comprise of 18 guns.
The first Dhanush regiment was raised in March 2020 with 18 guns, but after delivery of 6 guns, the Indian Army refused to take deliveries of guns due to quality control issues.
Successful tests of Dhanush guns in Pokhran field firing range last year fired all issues flagged by the Indian Army. The gun achieved 100 percent success in second-line firing.
Indian Army was supposed to get 114 Dhanush guns by March 2022, but it was delayed due to issues with the guns.
The first Dhanush regiment has now been raised and Army is in the process of raising second Dhanush regiment.
The Indian Army will raise four more Dhanush gun regiments by 2024.
Dhanush is a 155 mm towed howitzer manufactured by Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited.
